Collision Repair Process
Estimate/Approval
When you arrive, you will be greeted by our service manager who will ask you to provide contact information, insurance coverage and your service expectations. We will take note of all your requests and comments, and incorporate those into our repair plan. Our service manager will then examine your vehicle with you. In less than five minutes, drawing from a database that holds information on more than 14 million parts on every make and model of vehicle from 1966 to today, you will receive a comprehensive itemized damage report and repair estimate. Next, we will help initiate an insurance claim (if applicable), and order any parts or supplies that might be needed to do the repair. We will enter your car into our Car Watch system, which you can sign onto at any time to see the repair progress. Once we receive your insurance company’s authorization, we will start the actual repairs.
Dis-assembly
We begin your car’s repair by hoisting your car on our state-of-the-art lift, a S21M Chief EZ Liner, where we remove all damaged parts and de-assemble body elements in preparation of repair and painting. At this point, we will discover if there is any additional damage that was hidden, and if so, will prepare a supplement report for you and your insurance company. So you know, we never proceed on the repairs of supplemental damage without the car owner’s approval.
Structure and Body Repair
With our Shark Ultrasonic Measuring System, we can determine if your vehicle’s body and frame are out of factory specifications down to fractions of millimeters. If your car is found to be off, then your vehicle is transferred to a bay dedicated to nothing but metal frame and body repairs. Welding is done with our i4 Inverter Resistance Spot Welder, a high-tech welder design to handle difficult to weld materials like boron steels and Advanced High Strength Steels.
Paint
Our Auto Body Shop uses only Sikkens paints, made by AkzoNobel and universally considered to be the best automotive paints in the industry. Sikkens paints are unsurpassed in both accuracy and hiding power. Using both your vehicle information and a 3M Sun Gun, we exactly match the color of your car to the repair color. While we mix the paint with our computer-controlled AkzoNobel Mixing System, your car is relocated to our state-of-the-art Binks Spray Booth, where our highly experienced technicians apply first paint and then a clear coat.
Re-assembly
This is a precise stage as headlamps, door handles, bumpers, interior trim, and grills are put back on the vehicle. All components are tested to be assured that they are in working condition before the technician continues. Once all of the weight is put back on the vehicle, it is now ready for suspension alignment, but only if required. This also is the stage where we recharge your air conditioner, top off fluids, test drive, and mechanically inspect your vehicle for safety.
Clean Up
Cars can get quite dusty in the process of being repaired, but we clean them so thoroughly that it will look like it rolled out of the showroom not an auto body shop. We clean inside and out, engine compartments, under-carriage and trunks.
Inspection/Complete
Our Service Manager performs a 22-point inspection of your vehicle – including horns, tail lamps, air conditioning, radio, heating, engine gauges, cleanliness, power locks, trunks, windows and fuel doors – to be assured that the work we promised when you brought it to us has been done to factory specifications or better. As a final assurance, our Service Manager also will test drive your vehicle. Our Service Manager will explain all the paperwork and payments due.
The Final Inspection
This is the most important stage for us. It’s your inspection of your vehicle that tells us, in the final analysis, if you are satisfied with the quality and speed of your repairs. Whatever your expectations were going into the collision repair process, we hope we have exceeded them.
